Here’s another easy Valentine’s Day treat to make for the kiddos (and/or you, of course)! These easy cake mix bars kind of remind me of a cross between a cookie and a chocolate, peanut butter brownie.
Who wouldn’t love a bar made from a cake mix that tastes like a cross between a cookie and a brownie? Bar, cake, cookie and brownie all wrapped into one little yummy treat that takes less than 30 minutes to make? Yes, please!
I topped these bars with the Valentines M&M’s and some roughly chopped peanuts. And because they are so easy and quick to throw together I told my kids that if they have to sign me up for something to take to their Valentine’s Day parties at school that these bars and the quick and easy popcorn balls are what they better sign me up for.
- 1 (16.5oz) chocolate cake mix
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp water
- ¼ cup peanut butter
- ¼ cup peanuts, chopped
- 1 cup Valentine M&M’s
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, egg, oil and water. Mix well. Batter will be thick.
- Spread cake mixture into an 11x7-inch baking pan.
- Sprinkle nuts and M&M’s over top. Press down lightly.
- Bake in a 375° oven for 13-15 minutes.
- Cool completely.
- Cut into 24 bars.
I love cake mix recipes!! I actually made some cake mix bars last year for Valentine’s Day, too. They’re easy and kids LOVE them.
So simple and yummy! Thanks so much for joining us at the #HomeMattersParty – we hope to see you again next week!
