The first homemade salad dressing I ever made was ranch. I have loved ranch dressing since forever. Until making it myself I never thought it could get any better than what I bought at the store. But let me tell you guys, IT IS better than store bought!!
I was in a hurry and extremely exhausted one day and even though this dressing only takes a few minutes to mix up I like it better after all the spices have had the opportunity to marry each other.
So, I decided to buy some dressing from the grocery store. It was NOT good. You could actually taste the excessive amount of sugar that is added to the store bought dressing. I decided then and there that if I couldn’t have it homemade I just wouldn’t eat it.
Give this homemade version a try. It’s soooooo good!
Ingredients
- 1 cup yogurt or mayonnaise
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 tsp onion powder or 1 Tbsp dried minced onion
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp dried dill
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 Tbsp dried parsley
Instructions
- Add all ingredients in a bowl. Whisk until well blended.
- If mixture is too thin, whisk in ¼ to ½ cup more yogurt or mayo (it will thicken slightly as it sits). If too thick, whisk in a little more milk.
- Pour into a container of your choosing. I use a recycled glass jar.
Notes
I have found that making this a couple of hours before serving is best. This is to let all the flavors blend together happily.
Check out where I linky party!
