Homemade Taco Seasoning is definitely in my top five kitchen pantry items. We go through bunches of this stuff. It’s so easy to make and cost just a fraction of the cost of store bought taco seasoning.
My family is a humongous taco fan! Not only do I make tacos but I make a Hamburger Helper Crunchy Taco Copycat recipe that my youngest daughter, Tori, helped create. She’s a huge Hamburger Helper fan.
This recipe makes about 1/2 cup but you could easily double it or even quadruple it if the need ever arises. I use about a tablespoon per pound of meat but my family is not one for a lot of heat. Me? Bring it on! So, of course, if I ever get the chance to cook just for myself (um, right) I’ll probably add 1 1/2 to 2 tablespoons of this mix. It’s all about what your tastes are.
Ingredients
- 4 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 2 tsp paprika
- 2 tbsp ground cumin
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Measure all ingredients into a small jar.
- Mix well.
- Start at 1 tbsp per pound of meat.
Check out where I linky party!
Very similar to the taco seasoning I make with a few differences. Nothing like making your own, cost wise and taste wise! Now I’m craving tacos………
I know, right? We just had them the other night. Hence the need to make a batch and I already want more tacos!! Love ‘em:)
What I great idea….I never would have thought to make my own taco seasoning. I am so pinning this to try!
I hope you like it! It’s really simple to make…
I have been looking for a different taco seasoning mix. The commercially available ones I have seen at the store contain either wheat or dairy. I have friends who are allergic to both. Thanks a for sharing this recipe. I am going to whip up a batch this weekend.
I hope this recipe works out for you! My family loves it.
I love making my own season mixes and your Taco Seasoning recipe looks great! Thank you so much for sharing your awesome recipe with Full Plate Thursday. Hope you are having a great week and come back soon!
