I love a good side dish that compliments the rest of my meal. I also love a good side dish that is quick to throw together. These cheesy bowties with mushrooms and green onions are both of those things.
It quite literally takes only as long as the pasta water to come to a boil and the pasta to cook to throw this little gem of a dish together. Think of it as bumping up mac and cheese a notch:) A BIG notch!
Here are the ingredients needed to make the cheesy bowties with mushrooms and green onions…
This is the cooked bowties with the milk and cheese…
This is the cooked mushrooms, green onions and minced garlic…
This is the all of it combined…
AND here it is in all its glorious deliciousness!
Yum!
Ingredients
- 1 12oz package Bowties
- 2 tsp oil-olive, canola, vegetable
- 8oz whole button mushrooms, washed and cut into quarters
- 1 tsp garlic clove, minced
- ¾ green onions, chopped
- ½ cup milk
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar
- salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Cook bowties according to package directions.
- While bowties are cooking, add oil to a skillet and heat to medium high heat.
- Add mushrooms, garlic and green onions to skillet and sauté until mushrooms are tender and slightly browned.

Wow… this looks delish! I make a similar dish with roasted tomatos, red peppers, carmelized onions and parmasan cheese. This recipe looks like it’s going to be my next recipe to try.
