Quick, easy and oh so delicious is what I would call these turkey sloppy joes. This is my homemade “go to” recipe when I’m just tired of cooking and want something quick but it also has to be something good. You know what I mean? Sure you do:)
You just need to brown some lean ground turkey with some onion and garlic. Then mix in a couple of other ingredients, simmer a bit and bada bing bada boom. Dinner. Done. In about 20 minutes.
Now, the BBQ sauce is what totally makes this recipe so good. Use your favorite and don’t leave it out and don’t substitute with anything else! After trying this recipe I will never buy another can or packet of sloppy joe mix. E.V.E.R! There’s really no need to. This doesn’t take any longer to prepare and tastes so much better with only a few ingredients.
I served these turkey sloppy joes with my baked ranch potato wedges. No packets in this recipe either:) Go check it out!
Ingredients
- 2 lb lean ground turkey
- 1 clove garlic, finely minced
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 tsp white vinegar
- 1 tsp prepared mustard
- 2 tbsp brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- ¾ cup BBQ sauce

- Stir until combined.
- Bring to a simmer and continue simmering for 10 minutes.
- Serve over your favorite hamburger bun.

Wish I could eat this ;( However, my hubs and daughter eat sloppy joes all the time, so I’ll have to make this for them next time!
Pinning it!

WHAT? It is that easy to make homemade sloppy joes? I had no idea…I buy those cans al the time…no more..thanks for sharing at Party in Your Pjs.
Your welcome Kim! And thanks for stopping in:) BTW, this is way better than the can!
This looks really good. My mom always made sloppy joes from scratch. When I’ve tried, I’ve just done straight BBQ sauce and it’s good but not the same. Pinning this recipe for future reference.
I tried straight BBQ sauce one time and didn’t really like it, hence the need to make this:) Thanks for stopping in Karen!
