Homemade Bag Popcorn

I started this blog back in March of this year and I CAN NOT believe I have not posted this money saving recipe to you guys until now. This homemade bag popcorn recipe has saved me tons (I mean that literally) of money over the past couple of years.

I used to buy the economy sized boxes of microwavable popcorn bags from the grocery store. At least one of those big boxes a week! My kids would eat 2-3 bags EVERY single night for their evening snack.

I now only buy a bag of popcorn kernels every two weeks and a package of brown paper lunch bags about once a month! I spend about $10.00 a month for a WHOLE months worth of popcorn. And that cost includes some butter flavored cooking spray and seasonings.

The recipe is as simple as adding a ¼ cup of popcorn kernels to a small brown paper lunch bag…

sealing with a small piece of scotch tape…

and tossing it in the microwave for about one and a half minutes.

Once that’s done, spray a little cooking spray over it (or you can drizzle with melted butter), sprinkle with desired seasonings (I like Cajun or Ranch), shake and enjoy!

Or you can be like my kids and pour it into a bowl. I mean why not dirty up a dish instead of just throwing away a bag?
