The pear tree is finally ready for picking! Woohoo! I’ve been waiting on this ALL summer. Not only is this Pear Cobbler recipe one of my favorite desserts, it’s also #2 on my list of recipes to share with you using my homemade baking mix.
The two hardest parts about making this cobbler is (1) peeling and slicing the pears (you could always use canned pears and (2) waiting for it to cook. Unfortunately, I don’t have any shortcuts for that:( Sorry!
Although this recipe has two HARD parts please don’t let it discourage you from making it! I promise you peeling the pears and waiting for it to cook will all be worth it in the end:)
Start by peeling and slicing about 8 pears, adding them to a pot with some sugar and water. Then cook them for a bit…
Mix together homemade baking mix, some more sugar and some milk…
Pour into a 13×9 baking dish, topping with cooked and drained pears and drizzling a little bit of pear syrup over the top of all…
Cook it for a little more than a bit. All that will result in the best pear cobbler that will ever pass through your lips! Just saying:)
Ingredients
- 4 cups pears, peeled and sliced (about 8 pears)
- ¼ cup sugar
- ¼ cups water
- 1 cup homemade baking mix (this recipe needs the baking mix that’s made with butter)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup milk
- non-stick cooking spray
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a small pot.
- Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and set aside.
For the Cobbler
- Combine baking mix and sugar in a bowl.
- Pour in milk and stir until just combined.
- Pour batter into a 13x9 baking pan that’s been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
- Drain pears reserving 2 tbsps of syrup and place over batter.
- DO NOT MIX!
- Drizzle the reserved 2 tbsps syrup over the top of pears and batter.
- AGAIN, DO NOT MIX!
- Bake in a preheated 350° oven for 40-45 minutes or until top is golden brown.

Used to have a pear tree up north and our neighbor had one down in Brooksville, Florida when we lived there. Sure do miss those fresh pears and for that matter, peaches too! Nice easy recipe and again, another way to Kenny’s heart as he loves his pears! Think I’ll ship him over to you for awhile, ha ha………Thanks Adrian for a nice easy recipe.
I remember my grandmother having a HUGE pear tree and my siblings and I used to love climbing it and sitting on the branches:) Unfortunately for my kids this pear tree isn’t that big but it is nice to have a fruit growing around us that brings back good memories. Oh yeah, you can ship Kenny anytime, I’ll feed him all the pears he could eat!
What a classic cobbler! It’s always good no matter what the fruit. Just gorgeous! Oh to have homegrown pears!
